Teknokrat Higher School of Foreign Language held another field trip that last seven days, from the 22nd to 28th March 2015. Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta were the destinations for this year’s event. This program was designed as part of subject that focus on practicing tour guide skills. Followed by 134 students, this annual event aims to provide insights on how international level tourism places, manage and promote programs and attractions in interesting ways. The students were required to document and summarize all activities that took place at the sites they visited and presented the results as their mid-term tests. They were expected to be able to add to their knowledge the basics of tour guiding which is the competency for completing Conversations 2 subject.
During this trip, the students were released by the Chairman of Teknokrat Education Foundation, H. Mahathir Mohammad, S.E., M.M. to go out and get involved in many activities. In his speech he said, “The students have to possess the power of creativity and extensive knowledge. Therefore, this kind of field trip is one of the means to achieve it."
Right after leaving the campus, the group went to Bandung and visited some tourism places, namely the natural park Tangkuban Perahu and Bandung’s geology museum to practice their tour guide skills. Furthermore, the students visited the famous T-Shirt factory C59 to gain insight and entrepreneurial spirit through a lecture delivered by the founder of the factory. The students also went to Trans Studio Bandung and Cihampelas Walk to hang around and have fun. In Yogyakarta the students were led to visit Indonesian phenomenal temples, namely Borobudur and Prambanan. In addition, the students took part in entrepreneurial lecture delivered directly by the owner of the famous Waroeng Spesial Sambal (SS) in Yogyakarta while given the opportunity to have dinner there. Furthermore, the students had the opportunity to go to Malioboro shopping center. Before returning to Lampung, they traveled to some places in Jakarta like Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and the National Monument.
